Men's Masters rowing
The men's Masters group has a core of eight long-standing members, with others joining for particular events. In 2016 two members of the squad won the Mas E 2x pennant in the Pairs Head of the River Race. At Henley Masters Regatta our E quad got through to the final, only to lose to a composite crew. And a (different) 2x combination won the IM3 event at the National Masters Championships at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham. This followed victory for a quad in the same event the year earlier. The squad also sent an eight to the Head of the Charles in 2016 and has had numerous wins in Thames and Tideway regattas over recent years.
On the water training always happens at 8am on Satudays, with extra sessions before work and in the evenings when there are important races coming up. Individual members join in senior squad training, or make their own arrangements, depending on personal circumstances. We row all boat types from singles to eights with an emphasis on crew sculling in quads and doubles.
